Black Sea Batumi boulevard
On the coast of the Black Sea and home to the Adjaruli Khachapuri as well as an impressive skyline along the 7km seaside promenade, Batumi served as a place to re-charge before embarking on a 1000km roadtrip through Georgia.

After having spent multiple days hiking through the Caucasus Mountains we are happy to arrive by marshrutka in the seaside town of Batumi. The skyline, architecture and vibe of the city is very different to the places we have just come from.

On the one hand it's extremely interesting with its mix of modern skyscrapers, numerous expensive hotels and playful seafront in contrast with more traditional heritage buildings and an important shipping industry. Some of these aspects have led to its nickname "The Las Vegas of the Black Sea".

For us it is an ideal place to relax and enjoy spectacular views of sunsets with an interesting skyline backdrop, however we look forward to picking up our 4x4 and heading back into the mountains.
